Lesson 9

Hello!
This week we will be looking at a celestial event that is happening this week on Saturday, the 28th. This event is called a planetary alignment (plant parade).
A planetary alignment is when almost every single planet lines up in the night sky.  During this night you will be able to see Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn.  With binoculars or a telescope, you can see Uranus and Neptune.
Pop quiz!  How did the universe begin?  Who or what created the universe?  How did earth just happen to be in the perfect spot so that we don't freeze or burn up?
Lots of people believe that the universe came from a mixture of gases that we're just hang'n around in the vastness of space.  They say it just exploded and everything was perfect.  But hopefully you know how the universe actually began.  Read this bible verse and see if you agree.

Genesis 1:1 says:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Now you might be thinking that it says God created earth and heaven, but what about space?  Actually, space is a heaven!  This verse says God created the heavensNot just the the heaven that He lives in.  That means the blue sky is also a heaven, too.
I hope that you can see the planetary parade on Saturday!  Here are some tips on actually getting to see it.
1. The best way to view something in the sky is to go to an area that has little trees or tall buildings.
2. Bring binoculars or a telescope.
3. Get comfortable!  Bring a chair, blanket, or even a folding table!
4. If you need help finding things in the sky, download an app.  A good one is called Sky Map, and it's totally free.
5. A good time to look for it is 30 minutes to a hour after sunset.
Good luck!
